Year 10 student Aquila joined Pulse Films for work experience in May 2024, during which time they were highly impressed with her passion and mature approach to the tasks given. From the offset it was clear that she was a driven and committed individual with a genuine interest and desire to learn more about the Film and TV industry.
Her responsibilities while she was at Pulse included reading and providing feedback on scripts, researching, and writing her own documentary pitch, taking meeting notes, and discussing and reviewing submitted script pitches. Whilst working with the Non-Fiction team, the Producers were impressed with her understanding of media law for someone her age, and noticed she had a good eye for spotting a story that could have documentary potential.
Aquila also displayed considerable critical thought when interacting with scripts, often reflecting on how she could improve her work using the techniques she encountered and apply her inspiration to future projects. This reflectivity, and her precocious understanding of the script editing/reading process, was impressive.
This experience of being part of a production company as well as an ITV studios set visit gave Aquila confidence in finding out what pathways appeal to her and what she was capable of.
